The Serono Foundation for the Advancement of Medical Science is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to support educational activities in basic and clinical research. The aim of the Foundation is to improve human health and welfare through the advancement of medical sciences. The Foundation promotes and supports scientific research-oriented investigators by fostering an open exchange of information, experience and knowledge within the scientific and medical communities. Specifically the Foundation facilitates exchange of information on relevant topics between universities, research institutes, industries, national agencies and international organizations. The Foundation accomplishes its mission by sponsoring independent scientific workshops and conferences, and by supporting peer-reviewed research fellowships, primarily in the fields of reproduction, endocrinology, immunology, neurology and oncology.
